Of course you can train alone. But we believe that our main purpose is to motivate you and develop a customised training programme with you that corresponds to your requirements, problems and goals.
We will mainly be your advisor. We can detect when your posture is not quite right or when you are putting too much pressure on the wrong muscles. Also we can recommend running paths or the right exercise.
The purpose of a personal trainer is to provide a specific programme based on underpinning expert knowledge. Each client has an initial consultation discussing barriers, objectives and goals in preparation to beginning training.
The barriers to achieving your goals are just as important, so I can identify these and look at ways of overcoming them.
It is my job to both advise and motivate you to maintain your full commitment to the programme and to continually adapt and progress your programme to keep you interested and focused on achieving your goals.
The onset of training is approximately 3 weeks. This means that after 4 weeks training the effects of the first week will start to show.
However, this is an approximation – some people notice results sooner or later.
If you are new to exercise, working with a trainer 2-3 times/week is recommended. If possible, training should not occur on consecutive days to allow the body time to rest and heal.
The number of sessions you purchase is completely up to you. Most clients choose between 12 and 24 sessions but we can accommodate any number.
Each session begins with a warm-up to prepare the body for exercise. We like to use a standard warm-up that is easy for the client to learn. In fact, we have many clients that arrive a little early and warm-up on their own so they have more time to exercise with the trainer.
After the warm-up, the trainer will introduce the exercises for the day and explain what muscles will be worked and why the exercises were selected. The trainer’s role is to create a program that is specific to your goals and ensure each exercise is performed correctly and safely. In addition, our trainers spend a lot of time creating workouts that are not only effective but also fun. I routinely have clients mention that they like working with a trainer because the variety of exercises keep them motivated.
You will notice after a couple of weeks that you have learned quite a few exercises! Constant education is a key to Personal Training and prepares our clients for future success. You will notice that your clothes are fitting better, you have more energy, and some of those pesky aches and pains are gone (especially in the back and neck area). These are all benefits of an exercise program that is carefully created to meet your goals.

A free consultation helps me decipher your goals, and the analysis and tests we undertake help us create a customised training programme that suits your body, and a regime that you’re comfortable with.
This normally takes half an hour, and is a completely free consultation that includes a health, dietary and lifestyle analysis.
It will give you the opportunity to talk very openly about your goals and objectives and I can obtain the information required to create a customised training programme for you to achieve them.
It helps me ascertain what exercises work best for you, and you’re most comfortable with.

We carry out all kinds of exercises, but we’ll only do the exercises that you feel comfortable doing. My job is to find a training programme that you’re happy with and that you’ll stick to in order for you to reach your goal.
